Woman arrested for having sex with dogs - then trying to poison owner

Police arrested a New Mexico woman, Shari Walters, 53, after she tried to poison her roommates when they discovered she had been having sex with two German shepherds and called the cops on her.

The dogs reportedly suffered minor injuries during the incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, local news reports say.

Walters’ criminal complaint says one of her roommates called the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office approximately two weeks ago and reported she had been poisoned.

The roommate says she previously caught Walters lying nude inside a shed on their property having sex with her dog, Spike, the complaint says.

After the encounter, the complaint says, Walters admitted to having sex with both her roommates’ dogs. Walters was dating a male roommate and, according to the complaint, he broke up with her after the encounter.

While having dinner the night after the encounter, both roommates noticed their food tasted different. One roommate stated that the water wasn’t very clear but drank it anyway.

According to the complaint, Walters then asked her roommate, “Aren’t you going to eat?”

The roommate then stated in the complaint that Walters attacked her and admitted to putting rubbing alcohol in both roommates' waters, as well as toilet bowl cleaner in their food, because the male roommate broke up with her.

The primary household caregiver said he was worried the dogs would contract diseases he was aware Walters had, the complaint says.

A veterinarian at the VCA Animal Hospital said both dogs suffered minor injuries and that any disease Walters may have been carrying couldn’t be transmitted to the dogs.

The complaint says both roommates are receiving medical treatment due to the ingestion of the toilet bowl cleaner and the rubbing alcohol.

Shari Walters is in the Bernalillo County Jail on a $15,000 dollar bond, charged with animal cruelty, aggravated battery and assault.
