Eden Hazard says Chelsea are stronger and less reliant on him for goals
Eden Hazard believes Chelsea will be less reliant on him for goals this season following the arrivals of Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas, and hopes to challenge for four trophies.
Jose Mourinho’s side failed to win any silverware last term but they have strengthened their squad over the summer and new signings Costa and Fabregas have been particularly impressive during the early part of the new campaign.
Hazard thinks the new duo can propel the team to new heights and has set his sights on pushing for the Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles, as well as trying to win the FA Cup and Capital One Cup.
While he does not feel there will be as much pressure on him to score, Hazard accepts that he still has a responsibility to contribute and reckons playing alongside the likes of Costa and Fabregas will help him to improve.
"It’s true they’re the best players. Costa can score every game and Cesc is one of the best midfielders in the world," said the Belgian in the Evening Standard.
"Cesc can score as well and make good assists, just like the first game against Burnley where he made a beautiful pass for Andre Schurrle. It’s very important for the team and he can help us win.
"Last season I scored a lot of goals and maybe this season I can make a lot more passes forward because Costa is one of the best and he can score. It’s my job to score but it’s also my job to make assists as well.
"I can now concentrate on assists. I’m ready to be better than last season. When I’m on the pitch, I try to give my best.
"The new players have settled in very good. I enjoy playing with the best players in the squad and I’m very happy.
"We have a very competitive team and we want more than last season. Last season we played good but we didn’t win any trophies so we want more.
"We can win four trophies and I hope we can compete in the two cups, the Premier League and Champions League for a long time throughout the year."
