It was a day he vowed would never happen but on Saturday 27 September, George Clooney left his single days behind him.

And the 53-year-old was still celebrating on Sunday as he and his British human rights lawyer bride Amal Alamuddin, 36, hosted a brunch for family and friends at Hotel Cipriani in Venice.

Genius! All images that were taken on the approved cameras were routed to a database that George's people could access, therefore if any photos were then touted to the media, George would immediately be able to track down the perpetrator
The couple were surrounded by over 20 launches packed with photographers and police who made up an impressive flotilla which stretched across the width of the canal.
Star studded: Celebrity guests at the wedding including Matt Damon, Emily Blunt and Cindy Crawford. However there was no sign of George's good friend Brad Pitt and his wife Angelina Jolie
Seriously star studded: Considering George's fruitful career, it's no surprise his wedding was jam packed with celebs including actor Matt Damon, U2 frontman Bono, actress Emily Blunt and her husband John Krasinski
He's come full circle! Back in 1989, George married actress Talia Balsam in a wedding officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator in Las Vegas
According to US Weekly, the couple wrote their own vows and said them to one another under an arch of imported white roses, with the 20-minute ceremony starting at 8pm prompt.

During the reception, guests dined on a five-course meal by Italian chef Riccardo De Pra and canapés by Frederico Salza, while listening to music from a small string orchestra.
Where to next? It's not yet known where the couple will honeymoon but considering their lavish nuptials it will no doubt be an exotic destination
On Saturday night, guests including Matt Damon, Bono, Cindy Crawford and actress Emily Blunt partied until 2am after Clooney and Alamuddin reportedly entered the palazzo through an arch of white roses before exchanging vows.

Waiters wearing fezzes served lobster while Clooney's hand was reportedly shaking badly from nerves when he cut the cake.
An elegant entrance: Even when she was climbing into the speedboat, Amal managed to stay composed and step in with style
Only the best... At the wedding receptiong guests were treated to a menu that featured Tuscan and Venetian delicacies, with popular dishes including smoked tuna-roe with beans, mussel soup, sautéed shellfish with lemon garlic white wine
