Woman accused of burgling cars says she was 'searching for IS terrorists'

Lisa Carole Richie was arrested on suspicion of burgling cars at the school her children attend reportedly claims she was trying to hunt down Islamic State terrorists

A woman alleged to have broken into cars claims she was searching for Islamic State terrorists.

Police claim Lisa Carole Richie, who has tattoos covering almost her entire face and neck, was caught breaking into students' cars at a Mississippi high school.

While America is on high terror alert for any potential members of Islamic State, otherwise known as IS, police are not taking the woman's claims seriously.

She was caught at East Central High School where local newspaper the Sun Herald reports, she claimed she was on a manhunt for IS members.

Police spokeswoman Cherie Ward said there was "no merit" to the claims that there could have been Islamic fundamentalists hiding in the cards.

Officials say the 41-year-old's children attend the school where she was caught.

Roche is accused of taking sunglasses and other items from cars in the school parking lot.

She was arrested on a charge of commercial burglary of a vehicle and taken to the Jackson County jail and held with no bond pending an initial court appearance.
