Conservative MP Mark Pritchard arrested following allegation of rape

Conservative MP Mark Pritchard for The Wrekin in Shropshire, has been arrested following an allegation of rape, and has been released on bail.

A statement from the Metropolitan Police said: 'We can confirm that a 48-year-old man voluntarily attended a north London police station on Tuesday, 2 December where he was arrested, following an allegation of rape in central London.

Mr Pritchard was questioned by police and released on police bail later the same evening at 10.16pm.

He has been bailed to a date and pending further enquiries.

Mr Pritchard, elected in 2005, separated from his American-born wife of 15 years Sondra in April last year. She worked as his office manager in Parliament.
