Anambra Widows Back Buhari, Ngige

APC Buhari

Widows, in their thousands, in Anambra State, have declared support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s candidate for Anambra Central Senatorial Zone, Dr. Chris Ngige.

The event was held at the premises of the Last Word Ministry at Umusiome Nkpor, in Idemili North Local Government Area, where the widows had gathered for a fasting and prayer session for the two candidates. The prayer session was tagged “The liberator of Anambra, it shall be well with you”.

Moved by the action, Lady Bene Nwachukwu, a lawyer, organised wrappers, bags of rice, cartons of soap, bags of salt, towels, T-shirts for the the widows, who in tears, removed their shoes and prayed for the success of Ngige and Buhari in tomorrow’s presidential and national assembly elections.

State coordinator of the widows, Hon. Hope Nwandu, told Daily Times that their support for Buhari was based on principle, adding that Nigeria had gone through pains and hunger. She alleged that the empowerment of widows by some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was just a deceit, adding that the items were shared to members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state.

Another coordinator of the widows in Idemili North, Florence Obiefuna, told our correspondent that both APGA and PDP administrations had “not done anything for them in the state, while items were given to those who did not deserve them”.

For Franka Obidinma from Oraukwu, in Idemili South Local Government Area, “God will never forsake Ngige and his party, APC, as they go into the elections in Anambra State”. Also touched by the prayers of the widows, an APC House of Representatives candidate for Idemili North and South, Hon. Chibuzor Obiakor, donated about 20,000 bags of rice through his foundation, to the widows.
