BlackBerry Classic Q20 Spec and Release Date

The device will feature a full QWERTY keyboard along with fresh BlackBerry 10 software

As its name suggests, the BlackBerry “Q20″ Classic returns to a vintage physical QWERTY keyboard design.

The Classic appears to have an aluminium frame like phones in the BlackBerry Bold series, and a familiar rectangular shape with round corners.

Clearly with the Q20, BlackBerry are looking to keep on the good side of die-hard BlackBerry users, who might not be overly glad with the touchscreen QWERTY (Z10 and Z30), or the upcoming square BlackBerry Passport.

The BlackBerry Classic should spot a 3.5-inch, 1,440 x 1,440 resolution display with 582 ppi pixel density, a dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 2GB of RAM, a microSD card slot for up to 64GB, feature either an 8 mega-pixel or 13 mega-pixel rear camera, pack a 2515 mah battery, and run on BlackBerry 10.3 OS.

Connectivity wise, the Q20 will have Wi-Fi 802.11, Bluetooth v4.0, 4G LTE, and support NFC.

The BlackBerry Classic looks to be an update of the BlackBerry Q10, and should delight BlackBerry purists when it does come out.

The BlackBerry Q20 will rely on a similar hardware keyboard to that of the previous Q10. Other physical buttons include end, send, and back keys. BlackBerry also says the device will be equipped with a large battery to provide satisfying runtime.

Indeed, in light of news that BlackBerry is doing “internal research” on wearable tech, releasing a classic model will ensure that the company stays rooted while keeping up with the trends.

BlackBerry could unveil the Classic during its international launch event for the BlackBerry Passport on September 24.
