VH1 Star Stephanie Moseley Dies in Suspected Murder-Suicide
Thirty-year-old dancer and actress Stephanie Moseley died Monday night after an apparent murder-suicide, People reports. The performer on the VH1 drama Hit the Floor was found dead along with her husband, rapper Earl Hayes, in Los Angeles.
According to KTLA, a neighbor had called the police after hearing gunshots and a woman screaming. Police say Hayes, 34, likely shot and killed Moseley, and then killed himself.
Hayes worked with musicians like Dr. Dre, Timbaland, and Alicia Keys, and was on boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s record label. TMZ reports that Hayes was FaceTiming with Mayweather before the murder-suicide took place, and Mayweather pleaded with him not to go through with it. Mayweather, who is reportedly in shock, said he was a witness and heard everything.
Moseley started her career as a dancer, working with Britney Spears, Chris Brown, and Janet Jackson. She then was cast as Jamie Foxx's wife in his TV special, Unpredictable, starred in the CW series Hellcats, and served as a choreographer in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1. On Hit the Floor, she played a member of the NBA dance squad the Devil Girls.
"We are incredibly saddened to hear the news of the passing of Stephanie Moseley," VH1 said in a statement. "VH1 and the entire Hit The Floor family send our thoughts and condolences to her family and friends at this difficult time." Moseley's friends and family members are now raising money for her memorial and to support her immediate family.
"Stephanie was an absolute angel. She really was," her friend, America's Next Top Model winner Eva Pigford, told KTLA. "She's just loved. She will never, ever, ever, ever be forgotten."
