Prince George Got Gifted His Very Own Basketball Jersey Last Night

/
Prince William and Kate Middleton took in a basketball game at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last night as part of their quick trip Stateside this week.

They got to meet BeyoncĂ© and Jay Z — and hopefully schedule a play date for baby George and Blue Ivy, if nothing else; the momentous occasion is already being labeled the intersection of British and American royalty in the media. (That seems fair — the Beyhive would fight for their Queen as fervently as any monarchist, after all.)

Wills and KMid also got to meet basketball legend Lebron James after the game, which saw his Cleveland Cavaliers trounce the home team, the Brooklyn Nets. He gifted the royal couple a box of cupcakes he'd brought all the way from Ohio and a pair of personalized Cavaliers jersey. One was sized for an adult, so perhaps KMid can wear it around the palace with her casual tiara, and one sized for a toddler — in this instance a royal toddler. It's adorable. Unfortunately, George still thinks sports are for peasants though, apart from polo, maybe.

Lebron committed a party foul in the photo op above, a British etiquette expert told The Daily Mail. "Mr James should not have put his arm around [Kate]," the delightfully snooty expert explained. "Americans are much more tactile than we Brits and this is another example of an American being too touchy feely with British royalty. You'd have think they'd have learned by now."
