Kourtney Kardashian raves about her 'yummy' placenta pills one month after welcoming son Reign

Enthusiastic: Kourtney, pictured in 2013, excitedly encouraged fans to look up the benefits of placenta pills on Saturday
Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to her third child, Reign Aston Disick, on December 14.

And weeks later the resourceful mom is still reaping the benefits of the placenta from that happy day.
The 35-year-old E! star has been praising a recent trend where mothers turn their afterbirth into a new kind of post-natal vitamin.

Kourtney shared a photo of the pills on her Instagram account on Saturday, gushing about their benefits.

Forward-thinking: Kourtney Kardashian shared a photo of her placenta pills, praising them as 'yummy' and 'life changing,' on Saturday

'Yummy...PLACENTA pills! No joke...I will be sad when my placenta pills run out. They are life changing! #benefits #lookitup.'

Kourtney has always been open-minded on the topic of placenta, as the mother of three once pranked her family for being too judgmental about it.

In a 2013 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians she and Kim Kardashian pretended they had fed their family human placenta - it was actually brisket - after they were all grossed out when the two discussed the health benefits of eating the placenta.

According to a post by NBC Los Angeles, placenta pills are made by the mother's placenta being dehydrated in a machine for 16 hours, then blended into a powder, and poured into capsules.

Those in favor of the pills say that their nutrients and hormones help to speed up recovery time, with iron levels and milk supply, and in the fight against postpartum depression.

However, some doctors worry that as the pills are not regulated supplements, there could be unwanted bacteria being ingested along with the nutrients.

Recently adventurous mom Kourtney shared a festive photo ringing in the new year, as she posed in front of a cityscape.

In the photo she is wearing a long-sleeved, plunging, shimmery black dress, as well as a purple holiday hat under which her long raven locks were styled straight.

She captioned it: 'Happy New Year! I couldn't be happier than spending New Year's Eve with my three favorite boys and precious little girl at home in our pajamas. Wishing everyone a healthy and happy, present and fulfilling 2015!'
